More than 39,000 residences and businesses to gain access to fiber
Kirkland, Wash. (April 11, 2022) – Ziply™ Fiber today announced plans to upgrade its existing copper networks to ultra-high-speed, 100 percent fiber-optic networks in 17 markets across Washington and Oregon later this year. This means the company has completed, currently is building, or has announced new fiber construction projects in more than 80 towns across the Northwest since it began its aggressive fiber expansion efforts in the summer of 2020.
When complete, these 17 projects will enable more than 39,000 locations to connect to Ziply Fiber’s sought after “Gig-speed” internet service. The company’s industry leading 5-gig and 2-gig residential internet service – the fastest connections available anywhere in the Northwest – also will be available in all 17 markets.
Last month, the company announced fiber-optic upgrades for Wenatchee, Washington; as well as Osburn and St. Maries, Idaho. In addition, the company also launched multi-gig service in Brookings, Gold Beach, Lakeside, Port Orford, Reedsport and Silverton, Oregon, as well as Arlington and Stanwood, Washington. Ziply Fiber has already invested more than $30 million in upgrading its intermarket fiber backbone. That work has enabled the company to bring high-capacity, 100G and 400G connections to and through much of the region, connecting into several downtown cores, making the eventual fiber-to-the-premises projects easier and faster when they begin.
The 17 new fiber upgrade projects will support homes, apartments, and businesses in 10 cities in Washington, and seven in Oregon. They are:

Following final network design and permitting later this year, residents will see trucks and crews begin to run fiber aerially between telephone poles and underground in some areas. The network construction will take several months to complete and will include the installation of network equipment in existing Central Offices that will house the infrastructure needed to run and manage the network in each area.
