Ziply™ Fiber announces three new multi-gig fiber market construction projects in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington

Fiber expansion part of $500 million investment to build fiber infrastructure across the Northwest

Kirkland, Wash. (March 10, 2022) – Today, Ziply™ Fiber announced plans to expand its ultra-high-speed, 100 percent fiber-optic network to three additional markets in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. This latest expansion brings the company’s total new fiber markets to more than 60 across the Northwest since it began its aggressive fiber expansion efforts in the summer of 2020.

Once construction is complete, thousands of residents and businesses will have access to Ziply Fiber’s popular “Gig-speed,” or Gigabit fiber connectivity, and its industry leading 5-gig and 2-gig for residential services, the fastest connections available anywhere in the Northwest.

The expansion will take place in Lynden, Washington; Union, Oregon and Mullan, Idaho, supporting thousands of homes, apartments, and businesses.

Pre-construction has already begun in these cities and network design and permitting are well underway. Residents soon will begin to see trucks and crews in the area running fiber aerially between telephone poles and underground in some areas. The network construction will take several weeks, and in some cases months, to complete and will include the installation of network equipment in new locally-based Central Offices that will house the infrastructure needed to run and manage the network in each area. The company expects to connect its first sets of customers to this super-fast network later this Spring.

“The crews have been very responsive to the City’s needs and wishes during this construction phase of the new services to come,” said Doug Wiggins, City Administrator, City of Union, Oregon. “They have worked fast and there has been little if any disruption to our neighborhoods.”

Ziply Fiber is committed to thorough clean-up and repair of grounds following fiber construction. If residents notice something has been missed the company wants to know about it and asks that details be shared at https://ziplyfiber.com/constructioncleanup.

Ziply Fiber’s announcement comes at a time when more and more families and businesses need high-capacity internet to support the online needs of daily life in today’s world. Ziply Fiber's blazingly-fast service requires no annual contracts or has any data caps for residential users.

“Each of these communities has lacked access to high-quality, fast and reliable internet for a long time and we’re about to change that,” said Harold Zeitz, CEO of Ziply Fiber. “Once construction is complete, residents and businesses will see transformative improvements. Our multi-gig network will bring reliable, lightning-fast connectivity to the communities that need it most.”.

The expansion is part of Ziply Fiber’s commitment to invest more than $500 million over the next two to three years to build an advanced, 100-percent fiber network to both suburban and rural communities across the Northwest that have been underserved when it comes to internet access. The company has been actively building fiber across the Northwest since June 2020 and has plans to build and deploy new fiber-optic cables, local hubs, new offices, and new hardware to run the network as part of hundreds of additional projects across its 250,000-square-mile footprint.

Ziply Fiber’s primary service offerings are Fiber Internet and phone for residential customers; Business Fiber Internet and Ziply Voice services for small businesses; and a variety of Internet, networking, and voice solutions for enterprise customers. The company will continue to support Ziply Internet (DSL) customers, and its TV customers in Washington and Oregon. A full listing of products and services can be found at ziplyfiber.com.

Ziply Fiber is local in the Northwest, headquartered in Kirkland, Washington, and has major offices in Everett, Washington; Beaverton, Oregon; and Hayden, Idaho. Most of Ziply Fiber’s executive team, which consists of former executives from AT&T, CenturyLink, and Wave Broadband, either grew up in the Northwest or have spent the better part of 30 years living here. That local ownership and market familiarity is an important part of the company mindset and culture.
