Ziply™ Fiber lights up gig-speed fiber internet with no data caps in Kennewick starting April 21

6,000 households and businesses have access today; thousands more on the way

Kirkland, Wash. (April 21, 2021) – Ziply™ Fiber today announced that its gig-speed fiber Internet service is now available and ready for service in Kennewick, Washington. The company just completed a critical phase of its all-new, state-of-the-art fiber-optic network build-out in the city, which has enabled the blazingly-fast service and its symmetrical upload/download speeds that are critical in today’s world. More than 20 percent of the approximately 28,000 residential and business addresses within the company’s initial build area are ready for fiber service today, with the remainder scheduled for completion over the next few weeks and months.

With no data caps and no annual contracts for residential users, Ziply Fiber’s service launch comes at a time when more and more families and businesses are looking for the kind of fast, reliable Internet that can support the increasing online needs of daily life. Those who wish to check their address for fiber availability, or who would like to sign-up to be alerted when fiber internet is available at their home or business, can register at https://ziplyfiber.com/kennewick.

Ziply Fiber is supporting local communities like Kennewick to help improve Internet connectivity to be on par with larger metropolitan areas throughout the nation. The speed and reliability that fiber delivers are critical in today’s online world where work web conferences, online learning, and streaming entertainment are often all happening at the same time, something outdated cable technologies were never meant to provide.

“Ziply Fiber is proud to be here in Kennewick helping to serve a vital need for this region. We appreciate the City of Kennewick’s partnership during the build-out process as we worked to bring a reliable, lightning-fast, data-cap-free fiber Internet network to the area for the first time,” said Harold Zeitz, CEO of Ziply Fiber. “Our fiber network is purpose-built for the Internet. By future-proofing our network with these investments in fiber, we ensure Northwest cities like Kennewick are well-positioned to support the economic development of the years to come.”

The company is investing $500 million over the next two to three years to build an advanced fiber network to smaller cities, towns, and rural communities across the Northwest that have been underserved when it comes to Internet access. As Ziply Fiber lights-up the first addresses in Kennewick, it will become the third fiber build project to be ready for service in Washington in less than a year.

Ziply Fiber already has deployed many miles of new fiber-optic cables throughout the region and will continue to build out more locations. The company believes that everyone – not just those who live in big cities – should have access to fast and reliable internet. Ziply Fiber has been actively building fiber to underserved markets across the Northwest since June 2020. While it will take time to upgrade 250,000 square miles of land throughout Ziply Fiber’s four-state service area with new fiber-optic cables, local hubs, new offices, and new hardware to run the network, the company is capitalized for and committed to hundreds of more projects.

As the company continues its rollout of fiber-based services across the region over the next several months and years, its Ziply Internet (DSL) customers also will begin seeing service improvements. Part of Ziply Fiber’s investment is going to work that’s well underway to improve its core and aggregation network, across which all Ziply internet traffic travels. While there’s still more work to be done, by improving the quality, capacity, and reliability of those critical network components, customers of all types of services will benefit.

Ziply Fiber’s primary service offerings are Fiber Internet and phone for residential customers, Business Fiber Internet and Ziply Voice services for small businesses; and a variety of internet, networking, and voice solutions for enterprise customers. The company will continue to support Ziply Internet (DSL) customers and its TV customers in Washington and Oregon. A full listing of products and services can be found at get.ziplyfiber.com.
